Sparkles of Light

Something different happened in this town. People in charge were supporting and giving orientation to the townspeople and were willing to give donations to help the ones who had had a bad year and had many losses.
And for that purpose, it was announced in the town square to bring the proof of loss so they could be helped. And 100 persons presented themselves and one said: " There was a fire in my house that destroyed even the last thing." Another said: " My business was robbed and they took all." Another said: " My partner swindled me." And another: " I lost everything gambling." And these people would show documents as proof of their losses." The process was almost finished and the turn came for the last one, who was well dressed and did not show sign of loss, he was not carrying documents in his hands but a withered flower...continued>

And he was asked: " You are the last one of all these people afflicted by losses and they have showed us official proof; if you are a liar or a thief , it will be much better for you to leave, otherwise, you will be punished." And that man said: " Many people have judged me the same way that you are doing now. I am not as the others and I have not come for the money being offered, but to tell you and show you what is a true loss." He then, took the withered flower and showing it as if it was a sword, said these words: " This is my proof, this flower was of a gold color, even more than the sun at noon time. She was my light in the darkness, she was the torch that allowed me to see beyond the darkness but one day, this flower abandoned me, withered, and my illusion, my heart, my hope, my happiness, my smile left with her." After saying these words she placed the flower against his chest and left the town square. And that day everybody understood that the greater losses are not the ones of the world but the ones of the heart.
